What We Do
Beauty in Cancer is a nonprofit organization with the goal of empowering female-identifying cancer patients by reminding them of their beauty. The process of battling cancer is strenuous both physically and emotionally; many women lose their sense of beauty and individuality. Thus, our goal is to support them in rediscovering their identity by producing and donating headscarves to female cancer patients at various locations.

Our headscarves are made by artists all around the world who donated their time to create these designs. The prompt for all artists is simply, "What is your idea of beauty?" Beauty has no boundaries. So neither do our headscarves.

As we develop and grow, we hope to produce more than headscarves. Until then, we hope to impact lives through our carefully produced headscarves.
Meet the Team
Emily Tse
President
Hi everyone! I graduated from New York University in the spring of 2023. Beauty in Cancer has been a dream of mine since I was in middle school after witnessing many strong women in my life battle multiple types of cancer. Rather than feeling limited by the minimal training I have as a student interested in the field of medicine, I wanted to find a way to impact women's well-beings emotionally and mentally. My sole goal is to empower women and put smiles on their faces.
Sofia Kim
VP Finance
Hello! My name is Sofia and I graduated from New York University in the spring of 2023. I joined Beauty in Cancer to celebrate and uplift women recovering from or battling cancer. I admire their strength and courage even when struggling to stay in touch with their bodies and identities. Through BIC, I hope to help these women see the beauty and worth they carry with them.
Mia Nguyen
Vice President
My name is Mia and I graduated from New York University in the spring of 2023. I was so inspired by Beauty in Cancer’s initiative because it reminded me of the grace that survivor cancers have. Amidst hardship, they redefined what it means to be a woman and how to show their strength through their journeys. I hope that we can honor the women who have fought these same battles and help them reestablish their beauty.
Fiona Liu
VP Marketing
Hey! My name is Fiona and I graduated from New York University in the spring of 2023. I have always been in awe of the strength that cancer survivors have. They deserve to be celebrated, yet continue to face adversity within the beauty industry. Through Beauty in Cancer, I hope to challenge these conventional beauty standards by reminding survivors of how amazing and resilient their bodies are.
Lisa Abe
VP Operations
My name is Lisa and I graduated from New York University in the spring of 2023! I am fascinated by the technological advancements to help treat cancer; however, once discharged from the hospital, patients lack the support needed during this period of reconstruction. Thus, I wish to help women navigate the difficult process of recovery and rehabilitation with empowerment and confidence, striving towards the goal of reinforcing self-love.
Jade Navarro
Creative Director
Hello everyone! My name is Jade and I graduated from New York University in the spring of 2023. I have witnessed and been inspired by the many women in my life who battled cancer, which is what pushed me to join Beauty in Cancer. Not only are survivors unfathomably strong and courageous, but they are beautiful through and through. Our mission is to remind these women that even through an arduous journey like cancer, their beauty perseveres.
